I am alive after the hurricane, but still living without electricity since early Sunday morning, reports say they will have everyone up and running by this coming Sunday, so they say. I took mostly videos during the storm and apparently I can't post them here, only pictures, I'm using the app, which is all I have available right now. Cell service was out for many days and only until yesterday did I get better service in my area. Luckily Irma moved even more to the west before it hit us, but it was still disastrous, so many trees were uprooted, so many power lines went down, street signs and light posts went down and many street lights still aren't working today.
There are still so many trees that fell lying on the roadways obstructing traffic.
My car, like everyone else's car was left with so many leaves, luckily mine stayed safe, others had trees toppled on top. Gave it a scrub and all clean.
Many of the non working traffic lights had cops stationed at them to either guide traffic or for safety.
My husband and I alive and well, but very bored when we are not working. My office job is still not open, which is Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, so this past Tuesday, two days after the storm, I headed to Publix earlier than the rest to see if I could lend a hand, since communication was down. Sure enough, all hands were needed, it was just as bad or even worse before the hurricane hit. The lines formed so long they ran up to the meat department. There was more demand than supply, since the trucks hadn't been able to come, every Publix had to work with the supply they already had, which was not enough at all. It was so bad, we had to ration the bread, two per person. Anything we packed was taken faster than walking 3 feet, it was a crazy day. Luckily yesterday was a much calmer day and we were able to fill the bread wall and all the dessert tables. I was off today, so I went on a supply run at multiple places like Home Depot for a fan and a gas tank since we are using the neighbor's generator, BJ's for some food and gas, dollar store for candles and batteries and Big Lots for an extra car charger and another candle. Streets are still chaos with the amount of traffic and the way people are driving, hopefully we can get back to normal soon.

I was spending a week in Miami and it happened to be Christmas time. I hadn't seen my friends in over a year and we were planning on dressing up for the 24th and then do an ugly sweater party for the 25th. I decided to wear the dress I had bought for thanksgiving, but didn't wear because it became casual. I was planning on doing wine with green accessories and since I came down to Miami, I was able to do green heels as well. I didn't get many pictures because I didn't have enough time before when we all got ready and then my friend helped me out by taking some full body shots while our other friends stepped outside, but then she got a creepy shot with my friend's teenage brother who decided to photobomb, became the highlight the next morning, creepy prom picture as everyone kept putting it.

Wine colored Forever 21 lace dress, Avon necklace, 2 Henri Bendel green bracelets and Fioni green heels from Payless, which sadly broke from being in storage for so long and had to thrown out because they broke. Was only able to wear them twice and they were comfortable heels, which is hard to find, I need for find another pair like those.

My nails were also green, which I had done before I left NYC.

Everyone with their ugly sweaters on the 25th.

For my first full day back in Miami since over a year, I decided to dress a little nice while taking advantage of the weather by going sleeveless since I've been in the cooler temps of New York. I have also lost a lot of weight, but haven't been able to accentuate it since I've been layered up.

New jeans from The Limited, lace tank from Wet Seal and sandals from Carrion, which is a store in Nicaragua.

My signature gold Guess watch, large stainless steel bracelet was a gift and Swarovski silver bracelet was bought in Mexico.

Silver earrings from Colombia given by a friend, bow necklace from Madrag, ring part of a stack set from online and pink lipstick from Revlon.

My cousin got a new job offer at EY in Amsterdam so she had two farewell parties in February of this year, one with friends and the other with family, I went to both of course.

For the first party with friends, I wore a flower print, lace corset like top, black high waisted sailor shorts from Ross, booties and a black feathered headband from Claire's.

I was her helper with this party so she was grateful. I created a playlist on spotify, helped her shop for items for the party, load her car and bring all the stuff to a second location for the festivities.

For the other party that was for family I wore a black dress and an orange belt because the previous party everyone wore orange since it's Amsterdam's color.

Of course I painted my nails orange and the accent nail was the Amsterdam flag I did myself.

Again of course I made cupcakes for this event, Yum Rum Sweets. Vegan chocolate topped with a raspberry, basic vanilla and an orange mango one. Brought my own stand and of course made my own cupcake toppers featuring the cannabis and the country's flag, one plain, one with a cannabis and the other with the saying bon voyage.

I was celebrating my 20th birthday and wore a new black and white, paisley print top with skinny jeans, black peep toe wedge heels, and curls.

Wore a top that was peplum, years before they became popular and seen everywhere. Top and shoes were gifts.

Wore a 14kt gold Chanel necklace.

My pedicure were all black nails and on the toe were cherry stickers.

For my brother and his wife's baby shower, since they were expecting a girl, I wore a strapless brown dress with pink accents and a pink short sleeved cropped jacket.

Wore a gold plated over sterling silver necklace and vintage 1928 earrings I'm in love with, both given to me.

Again another pairs of heels that were given to me and left back in Miami, so I don't know the brand.

Strapless dress was given to me and I can't quite remember the brand and the cropped jacket from Marianne when there were still stores in the US.

I made all pink vegan strawberry mini cupcakes for guests. Yum Rum Sweets

A Thanksgiving look from last year while still in Miami sporting light brown curls before going black the next month.

One shoulder striped top from The Limited, vest from Forever 21, skinny jeans from dailyjeansny.

Heels were given to me and I left them back in Miami so I'm not sure of the brand.

Painted my nails all brown, added glitter to the thumb and half the ring finger with the other half in orange.

Stand from Oriental Trading featuring my pumpkin cheesecake from Yum Rum Sweets.

These are past Christmas looks from 2011 and 2012 when I premiered my new look, black hair. I've been blonde for so many years, being brunnette is strange, especially black.
Both times I posed with my brother, who also likes fashion.

The skirt is from target and top was given to me.

I painted my nails red with diagonal white stripes to replicate candy canes.

Black dress from white house black market which had a pretty print detail on it.

Nails strips from Kiss.

Hello, my name is MJ and I created this blog because I very much enjoy fashion and photography. I own two start up companies, Yum Rum Sweets, a desserts business and Zetram Designs, a jewelry business. I make mostly vegan desserts and make jewelry. I very recently moved to New York from Miami, my hometown and I hope to enjoy everything this new city has to offer. Stay tuned for more posts!
